Now Playing: a nice little drive through the projects
Ordinarily I don't go online on the weekends, but I thought I should post this right away.
Last night, on our way back from the dollar store, my mother and I are in the car making a left turn off of Mill Rd. I look out the window and I see a pair of vintage adidas hanging precariously from a telephone wire. Upon further inspection, I notice several pairs of shoes hanging from the same wire, and I know that I'm half-way home. We had to drive through the projects to get to our house, the massive buildings and high-wire-shoes were a dead give away. Then my mom says, "There's a really pretty house right around here, wanna see it?"
I reply, "Sure." The sun begins to set, painting the dingy grey & maroon buildings an orange hue. So my mother makes another left turn, right in the heart of the projects.
"Seriously, there's a really pretty loadstone house around here, it's the only house around...it's a house in the middle of the projects," she says. The sun is almost completely set at this point. And, for the next twenty minutes, my mother takes me on a wild goose chase for her "phantom loadstone house in the projects that's really pretty".
Parents...I tell ya.
